<P>The online supported MBA is a unique programme offering a range of study methods. The MBA takes into account your need to study whilst working, at a time and location convenient to you, by providing online support and paper-based study materials. You will have immediacy of support from dedicated tutors, and 24 hour access to resources in the Virtual Library. </P>
<P>Examinations can take place in any of over 200 ACCA Centres in more than 140 countries. </P>
<P>If you are reading this through MS Explorer or Netscape browsers, your PC specifications will be sufficient to accommodate the Virtual Campus. For further details of this, </P>
<P>You will normally be expected to attend at least two face-to-face workshops during your programme. These will be offered in Oxford and at another non-UK location each year. <P>Interaction with fellow students and tutors takes place through the Virtual Campus facilities. Students are placed in tutor groups drawn from around the world. Seminars are scheduled for all modules and take place asynchronously over a period of two weeks, enabling students to participate at convenient times. </P>
<P>Participation in e-learning seminars is a key part of the MBA programme and provides valuable opportunities for exploring concepts and issues with other students from around the world, and with tutors. <P>The programme is designed to build upon your professional qualification and experience and gives you credit for aspects of your previous studies. The MBA is designed to equip you for the challenges of senior management. An overview of each module follows: <BR><BR><B>Foundations of Management</B> <BR>The module aims to provide an understanding of the processes of management, the needs and contexts of organisations and the contribution of the main business functions to the organisation's objectives. The purpose of this module is to begin the development of an integrated understanding of critical perspective of management and organisations and of the functional areas. This module has both an operational and strategic focus and underpins later modules. </P>
<P>The marketing component is designed to introduce you to the fundamental principles and concepts of marketing, to enable you to add value to an organisation by applying marketing principles. The module includes: an exploration of customer needs and wants, market segmentation, targeting and positioning, the pressures and influences of the global market place, the evolution of the marketing concept, the marketing mix, market dynamics and competitive strategy, ethical and socially responsible marketing. </P>
<P>The operations management component of the module will develop your understanding of a range of operational and resource management activities and issues within organisations supply chains and strategic alliances. The module includes the following: achieving quality advantage using quality techniques, the design of services, products and operational systems, supply chain logistics management and the development of an operational strategy to support corporate strategy. </P>
<P>The strategic information component of the module aims to enable you to make sense of information systems and information technology in real world organisational contexts by describing, analysing and evaluating the relationship of IS/IT with organisational objectives, business processes and their management. It will enable you to bring knowledge and understanding of IS/IT to bear in meaningful dialogues between managers and technologists. The module includes IS/IT management, strategic information management, theory and practice, soft systems methodology, data, information, theory and practice, E- business - implications for IS/IT strategy and management. </P>
<P>The organisation analysis component of the module aims to develop critical awareness of organisations in order to facilitate the diagnosis of organisational problems and the development of solutions to these problems. The module includes organisation design and performance, organisation culture, power and politics, organisational learning, managing change with reference to the organisational environment, organisation development and leadership.</P>
<P><B>Managing Self Development - Leadership Development</B><BR>Effective leadership is increasingly seen as crucial to the success of organisation. The module focuses on leadership and developing leadership behaviours. It looks at leadership in its widest sense so it is relevant to all managers whether or not currently leading a team. It considers leadership in a global context, recognising that leading others needs to take account of cultural differences. </P>

<P>The module will involve developing insights into your current leadership capabilities and how you are perceived by others. As a result of completing Leadership Development you will be aware of your leadership strengths and areas for development. You should understand how to manage your own development so that you can achieve changes in your leadership behaviour relevant to your career and life goals, and to the contexts in which you will be operating.</P>
<P>Areas covered during the module include the importance and nature of leadership; behaviours of effective leaders; personality, culture and other influences on behaviour; different leadership styles; effective communication skills; empowering and motivating; communicating visions; leading teams; influencing and handling conflict; leading and facilitating change; coaching and developing others; life and career development; managing your development and producing personal development plans.</P>
<P><B>Global Business Strategy</B><BR>Managers in all organisations need to understand the trends shaping the global business environment and the strategies that businesses have to adopt in order to deal with the challenges of operating within an increasingly competitive and dynamic marketplace. The rapidly changing international business environment requires companies to be capable of continual self-renewal. In order to remain competitive in a dynamic global business environment organisations need to possess a strategy for change that provides them with a flexible response to change at both the local and the global level. This module aims to develop skills of critical evaluations, analysis and application of strategic concepts to the changing dynamics of the global business environment. The module explores strategic decision making and managing resources; the application of strategy to different aspects of business; international business ethics, the role of the industry life cycle in shaping the organisation of the future, incubation and growth of new businesses, within the global economy, ,internal development, mergers and acquisitions and strategic alliances, scenario planning in the global economy, business planning in practice , assessing and managing risk. <BR><BR><B>Organisational Change and Transformation</B> <BR>This module aims to provide an integrated approach to the management of change, transformation and innovation. The module focuses on the strategic management of people to create the circumstances that support innovation and change. It draws on current debates and empirical research in order to explore the importance of Strategic Human Resource Management within the context of broader corporate strategy. <BR><BR>The module provides an opportunity for you to bring a wide range of theoretical perspectives together in order to evaluate organisational attempts at the management of change and innovation. This should equip you with the conceptual skills for managing people through periods of major change and for creating an environment, which encourages innovatory behaviour. This module includes developing the human resource base to meet competitive challenge and environmental opportunity, the impact of culture and structure in achieving organisational change, innovation and creativity, change and transformation, organisational learning and knowledge management. <BR><BR><B>The Dissertation (Research Methods)</B><BR>The dissertation is a key part of your MBA. It gives you the opportunity to explore an area of interest and specialise in an area of your choice. <P><B>What happens after I have completed the online registration?</B> </P>

<P><B>What are the deadlines for registration?</B> <BR>The closing date for receiving declaration forms and payment is normally one month before the start of the next programme. Applicants who are required to submit further information in support of their application should allow sufficient time <B>for all</B> the information to arrive two months prior to the start date of the programme that they wish to join.</P>
<P><B>If I choose the instalment option, when do I have to pay the balance of the fees?</B> <BR>ACCA members will be invoiced for the second payment one month in advance of the one year anniversary of the start of your programme. Payment must be received one month before the start of the second year. </P>
<P><B>What happens if my payment is late?</B> If payment is late, not received, or not honoured, then you will be considered to have deferred. You will not have access to the Virtual Campus or to the Virtual Library or to your tutors. To reinstate you on the programme an additional fee of £150 will also have to be paid.</P>
<P><B>I am not an ACCA member. Am I eligible to join the programme?</B> <BR>You may be eligible to join our full MBA distance learning programme. For details please go to </P>
<P><B>How is the programme assessed?</B> The programme is assessed in a variety of ways, including by coursework, participation in seminars, examinations and a dissertation.</P>
<P><B>When do examinations take place?</B> Examinations normally take place in the first week of June and December each year.</P>
<P><B>Where can I take examinations?</B> <BR>When registering for the programme you will be asked at which of the examination centres world wide you would prefer to sit your examinations . </P>
<P><B>How do I get my assessment results?</B> <BR>A letter will be sent to you informing you of your results and the remaining studies on your programme. You will also be able to access your results via the web.</P>
<P><B>What support do I get on the MBA programme?</B> <BR>The programme starts with an online induction programme to familiarise you with the programme, provide you with experience of using the Virtual Campus and Virtual Library and provide the opportunity to get to know tutors and other students in your tutor group. You are allocated a tutor for each module on the programme. There are opportunities through the e-learning seminar programme to discuss issues with tutors and other students form around the world. You can also contact your tutor at any time, by the mailbox on the Virtual Campus or telephone. You may also arrange to visit us and there are opportunities to attend face-to-face workshops. The Programme Director and Course Manager are there to discuss issues that may be impacting on your studies and the MBA Programme Administrators help with any administrative issues. </P>
<P><B>What study materials will I receive?</B> You will also have access to guides on preparing for examinations and analysing case studies to help you prepare effectively for assessments. The Virtual Library also provides you with access to thousands of articles and business reports which you can download and print. </P>
<P><B>How do I access the Virtual Library?</B> <BR>You can access the Virtual Library from anywhere in the world through the Oxford Institute of International Finance web site or through the Virtual Campus. In addition to having access to an impressive range of databases you will also be able to access guides to help you in your studies e.g. on citing sources.</P>
<P><B>How long does the programme take?</B> It is possible to complete the programme in 21 months but it may take longer if you have to retake modules. </P>
<P><B>How many hours study are involved?</B> <BR>The time involved in studying for the accelerated route for ACCA members is estimated as 1400 hours as opposed to 1800 hours on the full programme. How much time is involved will of course depend upon individual needs, abilities and learning styles.</P>
<P><B>Who is my MBA awarded by?</B> <BR>You will be an enrolled as a student of Oxford Brookes University, who will make the award of the MBA. The MBA comes within the domain of the Business School which recently received a score of 24/24 in Business and Management and Economics by the UK Quality Assurance Agency.</P>
